When you go out to buy some kids golf clubs, if you do not play, it is a good idea to know a little about the game and the instruments used in playing the game before you invest any money in it.

Golf Clubs- A Short Primer

Although there are many, many different golf clubs, a set of clubs is comprised of a Putter, Irons and Woods. The Putter is a golf club that has a flat face. Its design is made to make the ball roll along the ground, usually at the putting green. You can see that it looks quite different than the other clubs. The Irons normally are comprised of numbers 3 to 9. This includes a sand wedge and a pitching wedge. These two are essential for use around the greens and bunkers. A good rule to remember is the higher the number of the club the shorter the shaft. This means that there is more degree of loft on the face and a smaller shaft. These clubs are used to hit the over shorter distances, with a higher arc. Woods were once made of wood, but have not been since the early 80’s. They are a rounder, club with a higher club head density, and are designed for shooting the ball great distances. Originally they were numbered from the Driver- number one, to 4-wood, but today that is not the case and now woods can number down to the higher iron numbers.

The nice thing about Kids and Junior Golfers is that the manufacturers realise that kids outgrow their golf clubs at a minimum of 2 years, so they strive to make a good quality, inexpensive full set of clubs that can cost less than an expensive adult driver does.
