A Golf Career

Have you thought about a career in golf? Want to know how can you turn your passion for golf into a very successful business career? Wonder if you have what it takes to be a Tiger Woods? Well, your dreams could come true if you decide to get a PGM degree.

What is a PGM degree? Well, the PGA has implemented a new golf program called the Professional Golf Management program (PGA/PGM™), which is a 4 -to-5 year college curriculum for aspiring PGA Professionals. Students will have a broad spectrum of courses combining the challenge of business courses with the excitement of golf. Courses can include: management accounting in golf operations, turf management, human resources management, food and beverage operations, club creation and repair, golf marketing, and many, many other tools of the trade.

Each university or college has specific entrance requirements and a certified golf handicap of 12 or less and each student must also pass a PAT (playing ability test) in order to become a PGA member and is a requirement for the course.

Of course, it’s not all work and no play. Universities will require that you complete an internship of at least 16 months at an approved golf facility (included in the 5 year completion timetable)

Going to a PGA accredited university and receiving a degree will automatically qualify you for PGA membership upon completion. You can also receive this degree through work experience, an ability test, and other seminars and self led study.

There are numerous universities in the United States and Canada that are PGA accredited throughout the United States. These university programs have one goal in mind - to help you become the best of the best in all things to do with golf.

But of course, being a Tiger Williams is not the only thing that golf pro can do. The golf industry is huge, and there is a huge assortment of jobs that this type of degree opens. So if you love golf, but the Majors aren’t really in the books for you, you can still get a dream job in the golf industry

Fairway Girl Putting Chimes

Fairway Girl Putting Chimes

OK, I haven't even got these Girls Putting Chimes yet, but I have ordered them and I can hardly wait. What a great idea! Girl Putting Chimes (they are pink, and you KNOW that Paula Creamer isn't the only one who likes pink around my house) Anyway they are 30 aluminum chimes suspended from a wooden base, and the girls putt at the chimes from any direction. When they hit the chimes, the chimes give off a, hopefully, lovely sound. That sound has to be better than the sound that a golf ball sounds as it goes through your window (last week) and the wall,(where it stayed for about a week, until Dad got home, and he thought it was hilarious. I give up) Anyway, it comes with three pink Fairway Girl golf balls packaged in an embroidered drawstring bag. I will let you know what I think of them when I get the package.

Play Your Best Golf With Your Own Swing!

Last month I bought a book called Golf Rascals ABC's of Golf and it was really interesting. I used this book and was able to shave 8 strokes off my game!! I was pretty impressed, I have to tell you. I wasn't too worried about buying it as it has a full guarantee. I have been using it with my older daughter too. Maybe if it works out, I'll try it on the little one. I figure you can't start too soon, and lets be honest, if you don't know what you are doing, or at least, if you don't want to improve, you certainly shouldn't be coaching anybody else! It doesn’t focus on improving your swing—it helps improve your SCORE—by 7-10 strokes. I really liked this book and it was one of those instant download eBooks (no waiting) and it was written for beginners and social golfers just like you and me - no hype, no empty promises, and no b.s. - Just the simplest rules that can be followed by anyone to cut strokes, lower handicaps, and KEEP OUR OWN SWING, GRIP, and STYLE! This book is for a beginning, social or junior golfer, not a Tiger Woods

What Is An Essential Set of Kids Golf Clubs Comprised Of?

When you go out to buy some kids golf clubs, if you do not play, it is a good idea to know a little about the game and the instruments used in playing the game before you invest any money in it.

Golf Clubs- A Short Primer

Although there are many, many different golf clubs, a set of clubs is comprised of a Putter, Irons and Woods. The Putter is a golf club that has a flat face. Its design is made to make the ball roll along the ground, usually at the putting green. You can see that it looks quite different than the other clubs. The Irons normally are comprised of numbers 3 to 9. This includes a sand wedge and a pitching wedge. These two are essential for use around the greens and bunkers. A good rule to remember is the higher the number of the club the shorter the shaft. This means that there is more degree of loft on the face and a smaller shaft. These clubs are used to hit the over shorter distances, with a higher arc. Woods were once made of wood, but have not been since the early 80’s. They are a rounder, club with a higher club head density, and are designed for shooting the ball great distances. Originally they were numbered from the Driver- number one, to 4-wood, but today that is not the case and now woods can number down to the higher iron numbers.

The nice thing about Kids and Junior Golfers is that the manufacturers realise that kids outgrow their golf clubs at a minimum of 2 years, so they strive to make a good quality, inexpensive full set of clubs that can cost less than an expensive adult driver does.

How Tiger Woods Paved the Way for Kids Golf Part 2

The most important thing to remember when you are just starting to teach your child the ins and outs of golf is Remember that you have many years experience over them, and they are not going to be hitting balls straight or sinking 20 foot putts for a long time. At this point, it really doesn't matter, and you shouldn't care. With practice comes skill, but if it is an unpleasant experience for them, they won't come back for practice to get the skill. Just like you, they need a bit of time to get the skill, and etiquette of golf. Let your child progress at their rate. When you are on the practice range with them be sure you encourage them, even when they are spraying the balls all over the range. They will pick up the finer points of the game later as they grow older and more experienced.

When they have had some lessons, and only when you know they are genuinely interested in playing, should you invest in golf clubs. Make sure their clubs are correctly fitted, as clubs that are too big will be unruly and cumbersome in their hands, and will lessen the joy of the game. Of course, since they will be growing in height and weight, understand that the clubs you buy today will last two year maximum before new ones are needed

My favourite part of golfing with my daughter is the quality time that we spend together. We discuss things that might never have come up in day-to-day life, and it has brought us closer together. We both enjoy going out for a day of golf. I'm no Tiger woods, and she isn't Lorena Ochoa, but we both love the game just as much as they do.

Thoughts On Buying Kids Golf Clubs Or How Tiger Woods Paved the Way for Kids in Golf

I went out looking for kids golf clubs the other day, and I could not believe the choices available. It is really surprising that not that long ago, golf was considered an adult sport, and was considered too long and hard for most children to play. Today, more children than ever are interested in playing golf, and that has a lot to do with Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods has pretty well single-handedly taken the sport and made it popular for children of all ages, and they are now discovering what you already know...Golf is a the best sport, a mental challenge and exercised, combined.

If your child seems to take an interest in golf, a good idea is to enrol them in lessons. Professional golf classes will help them develop immensely. Also, physiologically, having a professional show them the fundamentals in a non-judgmental way will help them and you can build on what was learned at the lessons when you play together. Most golf courses have classes just for children, and usually the class will include the equipment needed, or at least will have some clubs for rent. Not only will this save you money, but also you both can see how interested they are in playing. You don't want to go out and spend money on clubs that are going to gather dust in the corner because your kid just didn't take to the sport.

Kids Golf Clubs - Not Your Dad's Clubs Any More!

Kids Golf Clubs

Just why should you buy the smaller sized Kids Golf Clubs? You may have started out playing golf as I did, with a pair of my Dad's cut down adult size clubs. At that time, there were no Juniors clubs. Now that I think about it, I wonder I even stayed in the game, as the clubs were huge and heavy, and totally off balance. Kid's golf has come a long way since then, and you can give your kid a real head start with a set of Junior clubs that are made with the younger golfer in mind. Remember, Tiger Woods is on record as saying "The most important element in learning and playing the game is using fitted golf clubs".

Junior clubs are perfect for the newest golfer in your house who wants to take up and master golf. These Junior clubs are a great option for the Junior player. If you look around, you can get quality equipment for a lot less money than you would for a set of the more expensive adult clubs. Today there are a lot of golf clubs made for Junior players, and many of them are very high quality, reliable, durable, and still at a great price. Believe me, I know from experience that your child will play better with a set of clubs that are specially made for a kids smaller stature.

If you are going to invest in a new set of clubs, you should go for well-known companies that specialize in Junior clubs. A few companies who really specialize and have taken the time to research the difference between adult clubs and Juniors clubs are U.S.Kids Golf, Nike and La Jolla.

Many of these clubs are available on the Internet, and usually clubs on line are a much better price point than your local store. When you go searching on the Internet for Kids golf clubs, make sure that the site offers a full guarantee, and that includes a full refund of clubs and accessories if you need one. Confirm the price of shipping. Some companies will give you free shipping if your order is over a certain amount. Make sure that you would rather not spend that $50.00 shipping charge on something tangible, i.e. another club, or gloves or any of the thousand products that have been put out there for Junior golfers. Also be aware that often these companies have seasonal promotions in line with big golf tournaments and events like the US Open. This is when you can really get deals on clubs and other golf equipment.

If you are unsure about what to buy, search around different sites, as they are a wealth of information. You will notice that different companies size clubs differently. La Jolla breaks down its clubs by ages, in this case groups aged 5-7 and 10-12. Nike sizes clubs by height, as does U.S. Kids Golf. Check out Pinemeadow.com who offer a nice starter package that you might want to check out for the younger set. Which should you buy? This is entirely up to you. Search through their sites and see what you personally think will fit your budget and your child.
